WellFed Community, a subsidiary of WellBuilt Cities (WBC), working to meet needs, build bridges, and see our city made whole. WellFed Community (WFC) is the food arm of WBC work and is dedicated to building healthier communities through food education and sustainable practices. WFC operates a mobile food distribution network that delivers over 350,000 lbs of food annually to 7,500 families, a network of community gardens, and provides cooking and nutrition classes aimed at empowering individuals with food knowledge and skills. WFC is working to launch a mobile commercial kitchen used for both community events and private rentals as a social enterprise endeavor of the organization.

Position Summary

We are seeking an Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our mobile food distribution program and mobile commercial kitchen. This individual will play a key role in launching our commercial kitchen, which is currently in the startup phase, and will manage client contracts, oversee kitchen rentals, support community events and programs, and maintain operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in commercial kitchen

management, team leadership, and administrative coordination, as well as a passion for community development, social enterprise, and food and nutrition education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobile Food Distribution: Oversee logistics, scheduling, and inventory management for food distribution to ensure timely and efficient delivery to our community.

  • Commercial Kitchen Launch & Management: Lead the launch of our mobile commercial kitchen, including purchasing, develop operational protocols, and manage day-to-day kitchen operations.

  • Contract & Client Management: Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, ensure adherence to rental agreements, and maintain positive client relationships.

  • Team Supervision: Manage and support a small team, ensuring smooth coordination across all food distribution and kitchen operations. 

  • Administrative Coordination: Oversee budgets, schedules, and ordering; ensure compliance with health and safety standards, regulatory requirements, and necessary certifications.

  • Community Engagement: Collaborate with other community organizations and stakeholders to expand our impact and increase food access and education opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year in commercial kitchen management, food truck operations, or a related field.

  • Team Management: Proven ability to supervise small teams and foster a collaborative work environment.

  • Administrative Skills: Strong organizational and administrative skills, including budget management, scheduling, and contract oversight.

  • Interest in Community Development: A demonstrated passion for social enterprise and community work, with a focus on food access and nutrition education.

  • Additional Skills: Strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and the flexibility to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
